Bitdeer’s Bitcoin Mining Chip Achieves 9.7 J/TH Efficiency, A3 Mass Production Slated for Late 2025

Bitdeer Technologies Group announced its SEAL03 wafer achieved a record 9.7 joules per terahash (J/TH) efficiency during testing, while confirming plans to begin mass-producing its Sealminer A3 mining rigs in late 2025.

With 9.7 J/TH Milestone, Bitdeer Advances Sealminer A3 Toward 2025 Rollout

The SEAL03 chip, designed for Bitdeer’s next-generation Sealminer A3 machines, demonstrated its 9.7 J/TH efficiency in prototype tests under low-voltage, ultra power-saving conditions. This marks a significant step in improving energy efficiency for bitcoin mining hardware, a critical factor as the industry faces tightening margins.

Mass production of the Sealminer A3 is expected to commence in the second half of 2025, positioning Bitdeer to compete in the high-efficiency mining rig market. The company also continues developing its Sealminer A4, targeting 5 J/TH efficiency with an initial chip tape-out planned for Q3 2025.

Infrastructure expansions aim to support these advancements. A 100 MW hydro-cooling facility in Rockdale, Texas, began phased energization in March 2025, with over 500 Sealminer AI units already operational. In Norway, the 40 MW Tydal Phase 1 project is nearing regulatory approval, while Bhutan’s 500 MW Jigmeling site remains on track for substation completion by the end of March 2025.

Bitdeer’s management emphasized leveraging its 2.6 GW global power portfolio to scale high-performance computing and artificial intelligence (AI) ventures. The company stated it is focused on executing its chip roadmap and infrastructure plans, noting ongoing talks with U.S.-based partners for large-scale projects.

The firm will present updates at multiple investor conferences through May 2025, including the ROTH Growth Conference and Bitcoin 2025.
